Program Requirements
Requirements of Participants
Each team will consist of five teachers from rural schools in Illinois and North Carolina with at least one mathematics teacher, one science teacher, one technology coordinator and one administrator, placing emphasis on including both novice and veteran teachers. Each member of the team is required to participate in the following activities over two years:
2004-2006 Program
- Two, 2-week Summer Institutes
- Two, 2-day Fall Workshops
- Two, 3-day Spring Workshops
- Participate in on-line distance learning opportunities, including reflective journaling, action research
- Develop curriculum modules to be used in the classrooms to be posted on the web repository
- Communicate regularly with staff, mentors, and participants
- Share experiences with colleagues in ones own community
- Participate fully in all workshops, learning opportunities and on-line activities
Requirements of Institutions
Each School District is required to provide the following support for the teacher team chosen to attend the REVITALISE Program.
- Provide participating teachers with high-speed access to the Internet from the college/school. All team members should ensure that they have Internet access from home as well.
- Provide regular and reliable access to email.
- Provide participating educators with opportunities during the school year, such as teacher professional development days, seminars, workshops or meetings, to present to their peers what they have learned through participation in the Program activities.
- Ensure computer hardware resources are available in the schools to facilitate learning and sharing of information.
Modules that teams develop and use in the classrooms will become a permanent part of the national repository managed by this project.
