REVITALISE is a program of East Carolina University (http://www.ecu.edu/) in Greenville, North Carolina and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications located on the campus of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu). The program focuses on creating a virtual learning environment for rural middle and high school mathematics and science teachers to help reduce teacher isolation and stimulate a renewed excitement for teaching and learning. REVITALISE provides educators with advanced visualization tools and provides instruction from experts in both states through the use of the Access Grid. The Access Grid (http://www.accessgrid.org) allows group-to-group interactions using a high speed network with multimedia capabilities and interactive environments. With instructors on both sides of the “Grid” REVITALISE participants are learning to use visualization tools to strengthen standards-based curricula.
