Revitalise Cadre II Teams

Unity Point School

We are from Unity Point School in Southern Illinois south of Carbondale. We teach in a Pre-K through eighth grade single building district of 735 students. Because Southern Illinois University student housing is located within our school bourdaries we have many international students' children. In 2005 we had 41 different countries represented in our student population. Thus we are multicultural and in addition we are located in a rural area. We have 50% poverty and teach to a wide range of abilities. Team members are: Kathy Fuller has a masters degree in instructional technology and teaches fifth grade, Mike Blair has a masters degree in administration and teachers junior high science for all of our seventh and eighth graders, Melissa Smith teaches junior high math and has just completed her second year of teaching, Angel Marjanovich teaches math and reading to all of our sixth graders as part of a sixth grade interdisciplinary team. Administration is very supportive of innovation and technology in education. The district is a Professional Development School with Southern Illinois College of Education and Human Resources.

Revitalise is made possible in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
